Description	:	Elfrieda Elizabeth Spencer, 95, of Napoleon passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020. She was born in Freedom Township on September 23, 1924 to Carl and Caroline (Gebers) Riefers. Elfrieda married Wayne Spencer on June 17, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Freedom Township. She was a graduate of Ridgeville High School and attended college in Fort Wayne. She was born in Freedom Township on September 23, 1924 to Carl and Caroline (Gebers) Riefers. Elfrieda married Wayne Spencer on June 17, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Freedom Township. She was a graduate of Ridgeville High School and attended college in Fort Wayne. Elfrieda enjoyed working as a secretary and administrative assistant for a few different businesses but is best known as the secretary at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon. She was involved in the church choir, Sunday school program, past president of the Ohio District Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), and the Seminary Guild of Concordia Seminary, Fort Wayne. Elfrieda enjoyed being involved in the local art as well, having acted in a local production of Fiddler on the Roof and the Music Man and was a member of the Henry County Concert Association. She was an avid reader and tutored in the Laubach Literacy Program. Elfrieda liked to travel all over North and South America and even several countries in Europe. Her greatest treasure is her family and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Elfrieda is survived by her children, David (Margaret Ann); Gary (Charlene); Cathy (Robert) Jones, and Mark (Denise); grandchildren, Mark Spencer, Stephen (Jennifer) Spencer, Stephanie Jones, Jonathan Spencer, Susanna Spencer, Cale Spencer; great grandchildren, Raylan and Llewyn Spencer, and sister Norma Arlene (Robert) Freytag. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne; grandson, Nicholas Jones, and sister, Welma (Ernest) Miller. Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 3 PM until 7 PM. Visitation will continue Friday, July 17, 2020 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church or the LWML. Online condolences may be shared at rodenbergergray.com. Due to the current conditions surrounding COVID-19, please observed social distancing, masks are not mandatory, but are suggested.
