Yeakley who has been living on a farm 5 miles west of town, and who has been sick for some time passed away about noon Saturday. Mr. Yeakley is well know in Americus, having spent the greater part of his life in this vicinity. Several years ago, however he moved with his family to Oklahoma where he resided a few years. Mr Yeakley lived with his parents near Americus in the pioneer days of the country, and has seen Lyon county develop from a broad prairie to a prosperous farming community, and has endured the hardships and vicissitudes of the early settlers. For some time he has been in failing health and his death was not unexpected. Elijah Hamlin Yeakley was born at Windfall, Indiana, May 5, 1861. At the time of his demise he was 64 years, 4 months and 14 days old. He was married to Mary Ellen Mosier Jan. 10, 1881. To this union were born four daughters, one of whom died in infancy. The others are Mrs. Rosa McAuley of Neosho Rapids; Mrs. Essa Martin of Culver, Kan.; and Mrs. Lethia Warren of WAtonga, Ok. The mother passed away Sept. 20, 1896. In 1902, Mr. Yeakley was again united in marriage to Miss Clara Newton of Dunlap. Five children were born to this union. They are Mrs. Vashti Fisher of Oklahoma City; Misses Gladys and Freda Yeakley and Messrs. Edgar and Kenneth Yeakley. He also is survived by three sisters and four brothers. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic lodge and the M.W.A. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the family residence and was conducted by Rev. Hughes of the M.E. church. Interment was made in the Fruitland Cemetery. Funeral Home Records found in Americus, Kansas public library: Elijah H.
