Yeakley died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Taylor in Council Grove, last Saturday, Oct. 23rd. after a long residence in Kansas, all but the latter years being spent in the vicinity of Americus. Yeakley died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Emma Taylor in Council Grove, last Saturday, Oct. 23rd. after a long residence in Kansas, all but the latter years being spent in the vicinity of Americus. Mrs. Yeakley would have been 85 years old next January. She came with her husband from Indiana in 1856. Her husband, Mr. E. Yeakley, being one of the original town company which laid out the Americus townsite in 1857. She was the mother of William Yeakley and Mrs. A. C. Lamb who live in this vicinity, Mrs. Emma Taylor of Council Grove and Mrs. Engle, who resides at Topeka. The remains were brought to Dunlap Monday, where at 10 o'clock short funeral services were held, after which the interment took place in the Fruitland Cemetery. She was a devout Christian, and a kind mother. She had lived in Kansas for 53 years and had passed through all the vicisitudes of the early settlement of the state.
