Martensen, died at the Anamosa Community hospital Friday Jan. 16,1976 after a short illness. She was born at Hotstedt, Germany, the daughter of Peter and Catherine Tueksen Johannsen. At the age of eight she came to the United States with her family and they settled in Jones county. She was married to Johannas C. Martensen March 10, 1911 at Wyoming, and the couple farmed near Everly for several years before moving to Jones county to farm. Mr. Martensen preceded her in death July, 1936. Mrs. Martensen moved to Anamosa in 1940 to make her home and since last May has been at the Senior home in Monticello. She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Catherine) Nielsen of Anamosa, Mrs. Elsie Hubner of Monticello, Mrs. John (Augusta) Wennekamp and Mrs. Frieda Lentzkow both of Marion and Mrs. Harrison (Ella) Bohlken of Bradenton, Fla.; two sons, John Martensen of Anamosa and Paul Martensen of Monticello. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were held at St. Paul Lutheran church, Monday, Jan. 19, 1976 at 1:30 with the Rev Marvin P. Mueller officiating. Interment was in the Wyoming cemetery at Wyoming. Casket bearers were her grandsons, Donald Spear, Melvin Freese, Robert Wennekamp, James Collins, John Martensen and Kenneth Sedlacek. Burial: Wyoming Cemetery, Wyoming, Jones County Iowa, USA.
