Description	:	The daughter of Martha Raulerson, granddaughter of West Raulerson and Betsy Canaday. Her death cert, where informant was her daughter Mattie (Martha Jeannette McLean - Burnsed) indicates she was also daughter of an Abraham Cowart. It is possible that the name was actually Abe or Abel and presumed to be Abraham. DNA evidence for descendants of Eliza Cowart - McLean points toward a strong possibility of her being a descendant of John William Cowart (1774-1857) and Lydia Rollison (1776 - ? ) who were married 18 January 1800 in Effingham, Georgia. Eliza's death cert also indicates she was buried in North Prong Cemetery in 1940. Eliza married Allen A McLean in 1881 in Baker County.... all census records indicate Allen A was born in NC. We first see him in Baker County's 1880 Census. He disappears before 1910 census where his widow Eliza is seen with their youngest son George. 1909 Baker County tax records list his property under his name, 1910 tax records list the same property under "the estate of A. A. McLean." Eliza's death cert indicates that while she died in Duval County, she was buried in Baker County at North Prong. Her daughter, Mattie, is also buried here as is Mattie's husband, George Washington Burnsed. Mattie and GWs son, Fred, is supposed to be in North Prong Cemetery according to his 1943 obit but I cannot locate a tombstone for him... likely A.A. McLean was buried there as well and his 1904-1910 grave is lost to memory. At any rate, Eliza Cowart Raulerson - McLean and A. A. McLean had the following children, of which I am aware to date, together -- among the children some maintained the surname as McLean and others as McClain - on census records sometimes seen as McLane : * William Alexander McLean 1882–1943 * Daniel Walter McLean 1884–1906 * Mattie ( Martha Jeannette ) McLEAN - Burnsed (NOTE: wife # 2 GW Burnsed; NOT the same as Martha Ann Reynolds who was wife # 1) 1886–1983 * Effie Mae McLean McLain McClain - Dowling 1888–1962 * Alice Victoria McLean b. between 1891–1894 * Lou Daisy McLean 1893–1966 * John Allen Mclain 1895–before 1940 * George McLean McLane McLaine 24 October 1896 - 18 August 1971 ----------------------- Obituary MCLEAN – Mrs. Eliza McLean, 77, died yesterday ( 4 January 1940 ) morning at her home, 2333 Edwards Avenue, after a long illness. A native of Baker County, she came to Jacksonville 20 years ago. She was a member of the Congregational Methodist Church. She is survived by four daughters: Mrs. E.L. Dowling ( Effie Mae ) of Hoboken, GA, Mrs. A. Victoria Powers of Jacksonville, FL, Mrs Marion Mizelle ( Lou Daisy ) of Pierson, GA and Mrs Mattie Burnsed ( Martha Jeanette ) of St George, GA; Two sons: William A McLean of Jacksonville and George C McLean of Winokur, GA; Two brothers: Hardy Johns ( according to his tombstone, he also died in 1940: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/32629348 ) and Calvin Johns ( according to his tombstone, he died November 1940: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/47635177/calvin-j_-johns) , both of Moniac, GA; 19 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today at 10 am at the MacDuff Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev E.J. Prevatt officiating. Pall bearers will be, Active: Daniel W, Jesse and Leroy Dowling; John W Mizelle, George W and Leon Burnsed; Honorary: Bill Hicks, Bill Winn, Harold Burnsed, Eugene Brightwell, Edward R Parker and Joe Wainwright.
