Description	:	Elizabeth A. Leicht, passed away peacefully, in her sleep on August 1, 2010 in Bozeman, Montana, soon after being kissed good night by her family. The family is certain that she was personally summoned by Bob and greeted with the words: "Flower, what took you so long?" In 1946, while serving at the U.S. Naval Ordnance Supply Depot in San Francisco, Bob met Elizabeth A. Esp, the love and "flower" of his life. Elizabeth, affectionately known to most as "Betty," was born December 4, 1924, in Big Timber, Montana, to Jule Leonard Esp and Myrtle McInerney. She attended Upper Deer Creek Grade School and Sweet Grass County High School, where she played drums in the high school band, was an enthusiastic cheerleader, and a member of 4-H and Luther League. After graduation from high school, Betty joined the Civil Service and was employed as a supply-procurement clerk for the Naval Ordnance Supply Depot in San Francisco, CA. Bob and Betty were married on September 28, 1946, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Together, they raised four children, and at the time of their death had been married for 63 years. After a brief residence in Montana, Bob and Betty moved back to Sheboygan, where he became Vice-President of Eclipse Manufacturing Co., a custom metal stamping and metal fabricating company established by his grandfather in 1939, with plants in Sheboygan and Pikeville, Tennessee, and President of Optenberg Ironworks, a company owned by Eclipse Mfg. Co. Betty became the quintessential "1950's woman," a dedicated homemaker, help-mate to Bob, attentive mother, and involved member of the community. While residing in Sheboygan, Bob and Betty were long-time members of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and active in the Lay Witness Mission program. They were also members of the Sheboygan Elk's Club, Sheboygan Yacht Club, and Pine Hills Country Club. Betty served as St. Luke's Parish Visitor, a volunteer for the Salvation Army and the American Cancer Society, President of the PTA, and briefly as a member of the City of Sheboygan Planning Board. After Bob's retirement, they re-located to Sun City West, Arizona, where they became active members Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church and its prayer group, enthusiastic golfers, and gathered often with a special group of fun-loving and loyal friends in their neighborhood. Bob took up silversmithing and jewelry making and served on the Board of Directors for the Sundome Performing Arts Association and Sun Health (Boswell Memorial Hospital and Del E. Webb Memorial Hospital). Betty took up china painting, china doll making, and filled their desert yard with glorious flowers, fruit trees, and generations of birds, quail, and rabbits. Bob and Betty embodied the best of traditional American values, unswerving dedication to hard work, excellence, and integrity, and loyalty to God, family and friends. For those who were privileged to share their lives and knew them best. Betty will most fondly be remembered for her gentle beauty, elegance, and kindness, and for her determination to keep her children "educated and informed" throughout their lives with a steady stream of newspaper clippings about every subject under the sun! God speed to our beloved parents — and for their journey, fair winds and following seas. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Myrtle Esp; and her brother, P. Raymond Esp. Betty is survived by her sister, Charlotte Esp Ronning; and her brother, Jim Esp ; of Big Timber, MT. Together, they are survived by their children, Steven J. Leicht (Sherry) of Somers, MT; Terryal A. Dawson (Ken) of Ennis, Montana; Mark J. Leicht (Kathy) of San Diego, CA; Lisbeth L. Reichelt (Les) of Bozeman, Montana; and Sylvia Horner-Gaus, of Korschenbroich, Germany, an exchange student who became a beloved member of the family. In addition, they are survived by their grandchildren, Jarad Leicht; Andrea (Leicht) Aiken; Jess Dawson; Jenny Dawson; Ryan Reichelt; Tyler Reichelt; Kyle Reichelt; Rebecca Reichelt; great- grandson, Jaden Reichelt; and numerous nieces and nephews scattered across the United States. A combined funeral service was held on Saturday, August 7, at the Big Timber Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Alan Baglien. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery in Big Timber, Montana, and a celebration of their life followed at the Big Timber Lutheran Church parish hall. The Sheboygan Press August 11, 2010
