Breakinridge Again our community is saddened by the passing away of another one of our older residents. Who for over thirty years has been a good neighbor and kind friend to all who knew her. Mrs. Lizzy A. Breakinridge was called from this life of pain and care Thursday evening July 24th at the home of her son Rollin, of Grand Island Nebraska, where she had recently gone to visit with Rollin and with Walter, of Wood River. Her son Marion, of this place, accompanied her to Grand Island and left her in usual health and good spirits, to visit his brothers while he went on to Seattle to attend the Exposition. Thursday evening about 9:30 o'clock while preparing to retire, Mrs. Breakinridge suffered an attack of the heart trouble and died within a few minntes. Mrs. Breakinridge was born at Zanesville, Ohio, March 9, 1854, aged 55 years, 4 months and 15 days, at the time of her death. She moved to Muscatine, Iowa, when two and a half years of age: was married in 1874 and at once moved to Earlham, Madison county, moving to Orient in1877. She was the mother of five children, Addie died at the age of seven years, and leaves four children and eight grand children. Marion, of this place, Mrs. Louie Madison, of Fontanelle, Rollin, Grand Island, Neb., and Walter of Wood River, Neb,. One sister Mrs. Mary Foster, of Muscatine and two brothers, George Chowen, of Columbus Junction, and Louis Chowen, of Nichols. All the children were president at the funeral, except Marion who could not be located by telegram at the exposition grounds. Mrs. Breakinridge with her twin sister joined the Congregational church at Muscatine at the age of fifteen years. She was a honored member of this Congregational church of this place, where her loss will be deeply felt, and her memory will be cherished. The funeral services were held at the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by her pastor Rev. James H. Scull assisted by Rev. J. Giddens of the M. E. church. Rev. Scull spoke from "Col: 3-4" "When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory." The church was well filled with the old neighbors and friends of the deceased, whose presence expressed respect for the departed, and sympathy for the bereaved family. The church was beautified with flowers, many floral emblems adorned the casket. After the services at the church a large number followed the remains to the local cemetery where interment was made in the family lot. The kindly thoughts expressed in gentle words, by the good woman, "gone on before" will live long in the hearts and minds of her many friends at this place. Bio by: K Chown
