Read More	Daughter of John and Harriet Woolie Weston The Tipton Advertiser November, 1925 CHAPMAN--Elizabeth Weston Chapman, oldest daughter of John and Harriet Weston, was born near London, England, June 28, 1840. At the age of 4 she with her parents left England for the United States. The trip across the Atlantic took 48 days. Her parents settled at Clifton Springs, Ontario County, N. Y. Here she grew to womanhood, met and married William Henry Chapman, who preceded her in death 27 years. To this union were born eleven children, six sons and five daughters, all of whom are living: Robert S., Mrs. Laura Rochholz, William W., Mrs. Fannie Christian, Mrs. Mary Straub, Frank S., E. Curtis, Mrs. Nettie Nebergall and Raymond Chapman. The entire family are in attendance today except Mrs. Harriet Whitmer of Kidder, Mo., who was unable to attend. Besides the elven children there are 41 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren to mourn her departure, as well as hosts of loving friends. She departed this life Nov. 6, 1925, at 10:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Straub, in the presence of two sons and two daughters, to whom she gave the assurance that she was going to that home that is such a rest for the weary. During her life and last illness she was especially comforted by the passage: "Come unto Me ye that are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you comfort." They with their oldest son Robert, came to Iowa. The country was new and comforts for the pioneers were unknown. They located southeast of York Prairie. Here and in the surrounding neighborhood they reared their large family, who, like their parents, have found that Cedar County is a good place to live, and have acquired homes for themselves in and about Tipton and Wilton, with the exception of Mrs. Whitmer at Kidder, Mo. Mrs. Chapman was a quiet, unselfish and upright woman. Her example is worth being followed, and her name will long be revered by all those who knew and loved her. She was united with the Methodist Protestant Church at Virginia Grove early in life and remained a faithful member until her death. At the marriage of her last daughter, the son-in-law invited her to share the new home being formed. She accepted and has resided there during the last 20 years. The thankfulness and sympathy of the whole family of children goes out to Sister and Brother Straub, who have so kindly cared for her during her declining years. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, Rev. C. K. Hudson officiating, and her body laid to rest beside her husband in the Sheldon cemetery east of Tipton. Card of Thanks.
