Description	:	Elizabeth Chase Elgen died May 19 in Helena of heart failure due to her age. Elizabeth was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Big Timber to Frank and Pauline Chase. She was the second youngest of eight brothers and sisters. Read More	Elizabeth Chase Elgen died May 19 in Helena of heart failure due to her age. Elizabeth was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Big Timber to Frank and Pauline Chase. She was the second youngest of eight brothers and sisters. Following graduation from Sweet Grass County High School in 1943, she attended St. James Hospital in Butte (an affiliate of Carroll College), to receive nursing training and certification. She worked as a nurse at the Big Timber Hospital until 1958 when she married Clarence Elgen and moved to Fort Benton and then Bozeman starting a family along the way. The Elgens moved to Three Forks in 1966, where they owned two different businesses, raised their sons and retired. Liz took great joy from playing bridge and pinochle with friends, league bowling (she achieved many honors as well as two state championships), watching high school sports and working with the Three Forks Historical Society. She was devoted to her family and many friends, and she loved the town and people of Three Forks. In 2015, when her health made independent living impossible, she moved to and spent the last two years of her life under the loving care of LeAnn and staff at Hyalite Country Care in Bozeman. Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pauline Chase, sisters Francis, Margaret and Sallie, brothers Bill, Bob, Charles and Frank, husband Clarence (1997), son David and daughter Pauline. Liz is survived by son Ken, his children Nate, Kendra and Kyle of Helena, son Len (Wendy) of Prescott, Arizona, her son Derek (Kelly) Ruff and their children Rhett, David, Breauna and Lance and many nephews and nieces along with their children. Memorial Services will be held May 27 at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Three Forks. Interment will take place in Big Timber at a later date.
