Description	:	Clarence Elgen, 80, of Three Forks passed away Wednesday morning, February 5, 1997 in the V.A. Hospital at Fort Harrison. He was born December 10, 1916 in Van Hook, North Dakota, the son of Peder H. and Gunhilda M. Elgen. In 1917 he moved with his family to a ranch near Grey Cliff where he attended and graduated from Lower Deer Creek School. He left the shipyards to join... Read More	Clarence Elgen, 80, of Three Forks passed away Wednesday morning, February 5, 1997 in the V.A. Hospital at Fort Harrison. He was born December 10, 1916 in Van Hook, North Dakota, the son of Peder H. and Gunhilda M. Elgen. In 1917 he moved with his family to a ranch near Grey Cliff where he attended and graduated from Lower Deer Creek School. After working for various local ranches and Montana Power Company, he moved to Bremerton, Washington to work in the shipyards with his brother, Benny, at the onset of World War II. He left the shipyards to join the military in the latter stages of the war, then was discharged with honors. After performing his military service he returned to Montana to try his hand at various occupations such as grain bin inspector for the government, construction, and business manager. He married Elizabeth Chase on November 1, 1958 and in 1981 retired as City Water Superintendent of Three Forks where he had moved with his family in 1966. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing pinochle with good friends and his family. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Moose Club. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, Ken and his children, Nate and Kendra, of East Helena; son, Leonard and his wife Wendy of Belgrade; sister, Nora Omdal of Big Timber; brothers, Phillip and Henry of Big Timber and Kenneth and Erwin of Bozeman; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two children, David and Pauline Marie; his parents; sisters, Grace Lovseth and Helen Braaten; and brothers, Art, Benny and Oscar. A memorial service was held Monday afternoon, February 10 in Three Forks with The Rev. Lyle Hamilton officiating. Published Big Timber Pioneer Feb 20, 1997 Step-Son: David Clearwater #67865259
