She was stricken on last Wednesday at her home in Winnetoon with an internal hemorrhage. Her daughter, Mrs. Henry Reiners, living east of Creighton, was immediately called to her bedside. All was well for a time, but her condition soon became worse, until death claimed her. Elizabeth Doerr, nee Cornelius, was born in Peoria, Ill. October 22, 1864 and died June 2, 1935 at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 11 days. When a young woman, she came westward. On August 11, 1884 at Central City, Nebraska, she was united in marriage to Phillip Doerr, who preceded her in death, May 3, 1931. From this union sprang seven children, one daughter and six sons, one of which did not survive infancy. In the spring of 1896, the deceased with her husband moved to a farm eight miles east of Creighton, where they lived and labored until they retired in 1916. The years of leisure were spent in California, interrupted only by a trip to Germany, the native land of her husband. In 1929, the couple moved to Winnetoon, in order that during their declining years they might be in closer contact with their children. Those who mourn her exodus from this life are her daughter, Mrs. Henry Reiners, her five sons, Phillip, Peter, Leonard, Fred and George, one brother in Peoria, Ill. and also grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Doerr had been a resident of this community for over a quarter of a century and had a large acquaintance in this immediate vicinity. She will be missed by those, who remember her kindly word and sunny smile. Above all, Mrs. Doerr was a devoted mother and a true Christian. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home at Winnetoon at 1:30 and at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton at 2:00. Rev. George Obermeyer, pastor, officiated at the final rites. Many friends and relatives of the departed woman gathered to pay their last tribute. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery.
