They had 3 Preston sons: Edmund Randolph, 5 Jun 1880, below Benjamin Smith, 3 Jan 1886, below Thomas Lewis, 19 Nov 1891 - died before 2 Jun 1900 census On the 1 Jun 1880 Hampden, Prince Edward, VA census, I found minister of the gospel JOHN Preston, 22 or 27 and wife Couirtlant Preston, 26, plus 3 black servants and their daughter, all VA born. Her husband John died 14 Sep 1896, leaving her a widow with 2 sons. On the 2 Jun 1900 Lexington, VA census, I found widow Elisabeth C Preston, 46, Oct 1853, had 3 kids, 2 living ; sons, both at school: Randolph C Preston, 19, Jun 1880 and Benjaman Preston, 14, Jan 1886, all VA born. Mrs. C. S. Preston. (Special Dispatch to The Times) Lexington, VA., Dec. 26. - The remains of Mrs. Courtlandt Smith Preston arrived here to-night from near Baltimore, where she died Wednesday morning. The funeral will take lace Friday morning from the Presbyterian Church and interment will be made i the Lexington Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Thornton Whaling officiated. Mrs. Preston was the widow of Dr. John A. Preston, a Presbyterian minister, who died here about five years ago. His last pastorate was at Asheville, N. C. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Benjamin M. Smith for many years professor in the Union Theological Seminary, now of Richmond. Her age was about forty-five years. She is survived by two boys, E. R. and B. S. Preston; also by her mother, three sisters and one brother - Mrs. Addison Hogue of Lexington; Mrs. J. W. Rosebro, of Fredericksburg; Mrs. A. J. McKelway, of Charlotte, N.C., and Dr. B. M.
