Elizabeth Jane Radcliffe was born in LeRoy Lake County, Ohio, Feb. 14 1837, and was the fifth of a family of eight children born to Thomas and Mary Radcliffe. She died at her home Tuesday, May 26,1914, aged 77 years, 3 months, 12 days. She was married to Virgil Thayer, Jan. 1 1855. He died Nov. 20, 1906. Her entire life had been spent in LeRoy and Hambden, where she leaves many friends to regret her death. Mrs. Thayer was an earest worker in the Hambden Methodist Church, where she and her husband were both members. She was held in high esteem by all who knew her. About 20 years ago her health failed, and since then she has been confined to the house, and a part of the time to her bed. She is survived by a brother, Henry M. Radcliffe, of Chardon and two sons, T.J. Thayer Of Chardon, and Walter J. Thayer, of Hambden; also four grandchildren. Brief funeral services were held Friday at the house at 12:45 p.m. standard time, and at the Medthodist Church at Hambden Center at 2 o'clock. There was a large attendance of relatives, old neighbors and friends. Rev.F.W.Hart officiated, and many beautifol foral offerings were in evidence. The singing was by the Methodist choir. The pall-bearers were Wm. Maltbie, Albert Winchell, Wm. Worthington and Hiram Salter. The body was placed in the vault in Hambden cemetery, to await burial in the family lot there.
