Mrs. Keigley had reached the ripe old age of seventy eight years, four months and twenty six days. On Tuesday prior to her death she was about the house as usual. Mrs. Keigley, nee Miss Elizabeth J. Throckmorton, was born in Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania, November 27, 1924. There she spent her childhood days and grew to young womanhood. On February 29, 1848 she became the wife of William J. Keigley, who survives her at the advanced age of nearly seventy nine years. To this union were born eight children, seven sons and one daughter. One son, William Joseph, died while an infant. Those surviving are as follows: J.W. of this city, a member of the board of supervisors, C.C. of Crowley, Louisiana; T.H. of Colfax township, L.F., R.M., W.H. and Mrs. Emma Sutherland, all of Madrid. All were present at the funeral. In 1854 the young couple moved to the then new state of Iowa and settled first in Keokuk County. Six months later they moved to Boone County and settled at Belle Point. There they resided on a farm until seventeen years ago when they removed to Madrid which has since been their place of residence. A residence of almost fifty years in the county is long enough to earn the distinction of being an old settler. The Keigley family has been an important one in the history and development of Boone County. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at three o'clock from the M.E. church in Madrid, Rev. Thompson officiating, assisted by Elder W.T. Smith. The six sons of the deceased acted as pall bearers. Interment took place in the Madrid cemetery. A large concourse of people attended the funeral, C.C. Keigley of Crowley, Louisiana, arrived just before interment and after the services in the church had taken place.
