Description	:	Her tombstone reads: "Wife of John Neff died Jun 25, 1914 aged 84y 6m 2d" and she is buried near John and three of their children. The 1880 Federal Census indicates four children living with John and Elizabeth: Loretta J. (married Joseph Henry Farley) 1850-1925; Alvin H. 1857-1928; Harvey E. 1866-1929; and Frank E. Neff 1872-1946. These children are buried elsewhere in Clarke County. Elizabeth Kephart, daughter of John and Mary Kephart, was born In Ohio December 23, 1829, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Farley In Osceola, Iowa, June 25, 1914, at the age of eighty-four years, six months and two days. She was united in marriage to John Neff in Henry county, Iowa in 1846. This union was blessed with nine children five of whom survive, namely: Asbury, Alvin, Harvey, Frank and Mrs. J. H. Farley all of Osceola. Mrs. Susie Wiant now living in Wiggins, Col. was loved and cared for as an own daughter by Mrs. Neff for many years having lived in the home from the age of four years. Deceased leaves, also, three sisters and a brother: Mrs. Moore of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Corbln of Woodburn, Mrs. Land of Osceola and J. H. Kephart of Washington county. Mrs. Neff was one of the pioneer citizens of Osceola, coming here with her husband In 1852 and living here or at their farm a mile north of the city continuously ever since. Her husband passed away in March 1889. Mrs. Neff united with the Christian church when but a young girl and was truly faithful and loyal to her profession and to her friends all through the years. Hers was a character admired and loved by all. Of her it truthfully may be said she never was known to say a harmful word of any one—and everybody was her friend. At two o'clock Friday afternoon the funeral services were held at the Christian church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Mr. W. C. Cole. Interment in the Cox cemetery. "Rest weary heart From all thy silent griefs, and secret pain, Thy profitless regrets and longings vain! Wisdom and love have ordained the past, And shall lie blessedness and light at last: Cast off thy cares that have so long oppressed, Rest sweetly rest."
