Elizabeth Reynolds was born at Carrikavoher, Ireland on July 6, 1861, where she lived until 1875, when she came with her parents, brothers and sisters to Nebraska and settled on a homestead a mile and a half south of the present site of Ulysses. On Febr. 10, 1881, she was married to John McGuinnes, who died in January 1934. Six children were born to them: Daniel, Nellie, Frank, Annie, Katherine and James, all of whom were at the bedside during her last illness. There are also two grandchildren, Annie and Marie McGuinnes. Mrs. McGuinnes was a loving wife and mother, a kind friend and a devout Catholic and will be sadly missed by her loved ones. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Downey at the Ulysses Catholic church on Saturday morning, Dec. 19 and the remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Catholic cemetery. The pall bearers were Hugh Kelly, John McGowen, James Lambe, Leo Gray, George Gorman and William Ward. She journeyed here from Ireland Across the land and sea, Now she’s journeyed on to heaven Where she’ll wait and watch for thee.
