They had two children, Frank B. and Marie. Bessie died on March 5, 1938, at the age of 79. Dunlap Reporter March 8, 1938 "Mrs. M. C. Dally Buried on Monday Mrs. Dally Was a Member of the First Class of Iowa State College at Ames" Bessie Barrett Dally, oldest daughter of Michael and Rose Barrett, was born at Wheatland, Iowa, April 5, 1856 and died at Dunlap, March 5, 1938. She came to Dunlap with her parents at the age of eleven years in 1867 and has been a resident of the town since. Mrs. Dally received her education in the Dunlap Public Schools, St. Frances Academy at Council Bluffs, and Iowa State College at Ames. She has the distinction of having been a member of the first class at Iowa State College. After completing her education, she was associated with her father, Michael Barrett, in the mercantile business until the time of her marriage to M. C. Dally on January 6, 1886. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Frank B. Dally of Dunlap; a daughter, Mrs. Leo G. Cover of Cleveland, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Betty Louise Cover of Cleveland; two brothers, M. J. and J. T. Barrett both of Dunlap; and three sisters: Mrs. Jennie E. Smith, Des Moines; Mrs. William Beatty, Omaha; and Mrs. Frank Gallagher, San Francisco. Burial was from St. Patrick's Church on Monday morning, March 7, and interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Few have resided in any community for as long a time as Mrs. Dally lived in Dunlap. In service to her family, her church, and the community, she gave her best efforts, and in return was greatly admired and loved. Her life stands out as an inspiration because of her devotion to high ideals. She was be greatly missed."
