Mrs Elizabeth Marguerite Reitzel Halboth was born in Germany Jan 28, 1860, and passed away Wednesday Dec 9 in Council Bluffs. She attained the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 11 days at her death. She came to America at the age of 7 years and grew to womanhood in Mendota, IL. She came to Odebolt in 1879. She w as united in marriage to Fred Halboth on Nov 20 of that years and they made their home on a farm in Richland township the farm now occupied by Mr and Mrs A.C. Hannemann. They continued to farm and their children were reared on the farm but on retiring they moved to Odebolt living in town for a number of years. On Mr Halboths death about 14 years ago Mrs Halboth went to Council Bluffs to make her home with her daughter and this has since been her residence. Mrs Halboth was the mother of 5 children: Mrs Anna Barkley, who passed away in 1908; those living are Mrs Kathryn Hoag, Los Angeles; Fred Halboth, Jr, Omaha; Mrs Elizabeth Rosman and Darlene Halboth, both of Council Bluffs. She made her home with the later. Other survivors are 6 grandchildren; also one sister survives, Mrs Anna Luft of Sac City, while two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
