She was 87 years of age. She was the widow of the late William H. Byrd, who died about 24 years ago. Read More	DIED SATURDAY IN SALISBURY One of the community's most estimable elderly matrons, Mrs. Elizabeth Byrd, died in a Salisbury hospital where she had been a patient for a short time, on Saturday of last week. She was 87 years of age. She was the widow of the late William H. Byrd, who died about 24 years ago. Mrs. Byrd had been active and in good health until a few weeks ago, when she fell and broke her hip. She was a fine, homey lady, a devoted wife and mother, a good neighbor, and in her younger days was active in neighborhood and church affairs, and because of her fine personality and helpfulness, had a host of warm and devoted friends. For a great many years she had been a member of Asbury Methodist Church and took part in its activities as long as her health permitted. Funeral services were held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Hinman Funeral Rome here, conducted by the Rev. Walter Beckwith, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Burial was in Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery. Surviving her are two daughters, Miss Gertrude Byrd and Mrs. Lloyd Tyler, both of this city; one son, William H. Byrd of Wilmington, N.C.; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
