Description	:	The following is an obituary of Mrs. Jesse Homan whose death was mentioned in our last week's issue. Mrs. Homan was an old resident of Corning and had a large circle of friends who deeply mourn her death. Elizabeth Minerva Wilson, daughter of Michael and Jane Wilson, was born April 15, 1839 in Putnam County, Indiana where she passed her girlhood and grew to womanhood. Read More	The following is an obituary of Mrs. Jesse Homan whose death was mentioned in our last week's issue. Mrs. Homan was an old resident of Corning and had a large circle of friends who deeply mourn her death. Elizabeth Minerva Wilson, daughter of Michael and Jane Wilson, was born April 15, 1839 in Putnam County, Indiana where she passed her girlhood and grew to womanhood. At the age of 14 years she was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church and has ever remained true to her Christian faith. On the 21st day of May, 1857, she was married to Jesse Homan, of the same county as herself. Six years later, she, with her husband and two children came to Adams County, Iowa, where she lived until her death. With patience and fortitude she bore the deprivations of pioneer life without complaint and in old age was enabled to enjoy the fruits of her labor in a comfortable home surrounded by loving friends. For the last two year, Mrs. Homan had been a constant sufferer from pain but she bore it with confidence and courage. In all her faith never faltered. She was the mother of eight children, five daughters and six sons. Two of the daughters preceded her to the better world, Gracia E. in 1882, aged 22 years, and Carrie M. in 1883, aged 19 years. She leaves her husband and six children who sorrow, but not like those without hope. The living children are Mrs. Alma E. VanWagenen of Adams County, Iowa; Frederic W. Homan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ralph W. Homan of Webster City, Iowa; Thomas B. Homan of Griswold, Iowa; Ellie G. and Lucy J. who reside at home. She is survived by one brother, George P. Wilson of Brooklyn, Indiana. She went to her rest May 19, 1913. All her children were present at the funeral except Frederic W. of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The funeral was conducted by Rev. B. E. Garrett of Carbon and Rev. A. Y. Cupp. Interment was made in the cemetery near the First Baptist Church in Washington Township. Adams County Free Press, May 28, 1913, page 7
