Description	:	The death of Miss Gertrude Homan occurred Friday evening, October 24, 1919 at 6:55 at her late residence in east Corning, following a siege of typhoid fever of several weeks duration. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Baptist Church and at the First Baptist Church at 3 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. Richmond A. Smith. Elsie Gertrude Homan was born on the old home farm in Washington township, March 10, 1873 and was aged 46 years, 7 months, and 14 days. She resided on the home farm until 1914 when she removed to Corning which has since been her home. For a number of years she was a teacher in the county and met with great success. Later she was engaged in nursing in which she seemed especially adapted and made many friends by her loving ministrations. She united with the Adams County First Baptist Church during the pastorate of Rev. Mr. Andrew where she retained her membership until last March when she transferred it to the Corning Church. In a short time she was elected church clerk, which position she held at her death. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Alma VanWagemen and Miss Lucy Homan of this city and two brothers, F. W. Homan of Colorado Springs, Colorado, T. B. Homan of Duluth, Minnesota, besides many other relatives and friends. Some months before her summons came Miss Gertrude requested a favorite cousin to personally see that she was covered with yellow flowers in case she died first.
