It was largely attended for she was an old and well known resident of this county, residing near Strahan for a number of years. The old time Strahan choir, L. C. Stevesson, Robert Criswell, Charles Peer, B. F. Bellwood, Mrs. Charles Salyers, Mrs. Robert Criswell, Mrs. F. Steele and Miss Lettie Bradley, did the singing and the sermon was preached by Rev. S. L. Boyers, the pastor. The following obituary was read at the services: Elizabeth Steele was born November 15, 1828, near where is now Carnegie, a suburb of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She died December 23, 1909, at Laurel, Montana, being 81 years, l month and 8 days old. She was married to George K. Eacrett January l, 1850. The husband died June 4, 1898. To them were born ten children, nine of whom are now living: C. E. Eacrett, Mrs. Laura Wolfe, H. F. Eacrett, Mrs. Lenore Wolfe, Mrs. Maude Burks of Mills county, Iowa, and G. S. Eacrett and Mrs. Ratie Shay of Laurel, Montana, Mrs. Eva Chamberlain of North Platte, Nebraska, and Mrs. Mary Smith of Loveland, Colorado. She and her husband came to Fayette county, Iowa, in the year 1856, living there until 1873, when the family moved to Mills county, settling in Deer Creek township, improving the present homesteaded farm. Mrs. Eacrett lived a long and useful life, rearing a large family, always a loving and conscientious mother, enduring the hardships and .........(last sentence missing)
