Fickel of Henderson furnished the music. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Clinton Parker, Mrs. John Rainbow, and Mrs. R. L. South. Elizabeth Parker, the oldest child of John and Mary Parker, was born near Marion, Ohio, November 9, 1862, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Paul of Henderson, December 16, 1945, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 7 days. When about four years of age she came with her parents to Iowa, making the trip in a covered wagon and settling on a farm near Wesley Chapel Church. Later the family moved to a farm north of Silver City where she grew to womanhood. On February 15, 1888, she was united in marriage to William H. Salyers of Strahan. To this union four children were born. The oldest died in infancy. The others were Ida, Lela, and Hollis. After the marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Sayers moved to a farm near Strahan where they lived most of the time until the death of Mr. Salyers January 21, 1939, when Mrs. Salyers made her home with her children. Early in life she was converted and united with the Methodist Church in Silver City. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Malvern at the time of her death. She enjoyed working in the Woman’s Society in Henderson. She will be greatly missed by those women and by all who knew her. She was a woman of very high ideals. A kind and loving mother, a good neighbor, and citizen, her place will be hard to fill in the hearts of all who knew her. Those left to mourn her passing are one daughter, Mrs. Harry Paul, Henderson; one son W. Hollis Salyers, Hollywood, California; two brothers, Rev. Grant Parker, adair, and Roy Parker, Des Moines; four sisters, Mrs. Alice Tucker, York, Nebraska, Mrs. Elmer Johnson, Glenwood, Mrs. D. N. Salyers, Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Mrs. Ida Phelps, Boston, Massachusetts, three grandchildren, Harry E. Paul, Henderson, Mrs. Merl Core, Ames, Joyce Salyers, Hollywood, California; many other relatives and a large circle of friends. Two brothers, Jay and Guy Parker, one sister, Mrs. Cora Tucker, and one daughter, Mrs. Will Millen preceded her in death. Malvern Leader, December 20, 1945, page 1
