Description	:	William H Salyers, a long time resident of Mills County, and well known to many of our readers passed away suddenly at his home southeast of Malvern, Monday morning about 10 o’clock. He was sitting in his chair when the end came and passed away almost without warning. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist Church in Malvern at 2:30 conducted by the pastors, Rev. Paul H. Hicks assisted by Rev. Mr. Houck of Red Oak. A special choir, Mrs. L. D. Fletcher, Mrs. D. O. Cunningham, Floyd Parker, and R. W. Criswell, with Mrs. Harry Stone as accompanist, sang a profusion of beautiful flowers testified to the loving remembrance of friends and relatives. Burial was made in the Malvern Cemetery. The pall bearers were George F. Salyers, Chas. W. Salyers, Wallace Salyers, P. M. Cadwell, Guy Parker, and W. Slothower. William H. Salyers, the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Salyers was born near Attica, Iowa, January 16, 1864. He came to Mills County with his parents when seven years of age, locating on the old home farm near Strahan and this county has been his home ever since, nearly sixty years. He was married February 15, 1888 at the old John Parker home near Silver City to Elizabeth Parker. To this union four children were born. One died in infancy, and the others with the wife survive him. They are Mrs. Ida Paul of Henderson, Mrs. Lela Millen of Red Oak, and Hollis who is at home. For a number of years he was engaged in farming, building up one of the best farms in White Cloud township. He then engaged in the real estate and insurance business for a number of years in which he was largely successful until the slump came following the war. Later he retired to his farm southeast of Malvern, where he was living when the end came. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Malvern and of the Woodmen of the World order. He was a man of high ideals and strong friendships. A good friend, a kind and loving husband and parent, and a good neighbor. He will be missed. He is survived by the loving wife and three children, three brothers, George F. Salyers and Chas. W. Salyers of Malvern and David N. Salyers of Fort Collins, Colorado, and one sister, Miss Sadie Salyers of Malvern, besides numerous other relatives and friends who sincerely mourn his passing.
