Hoskins Dead. Mrs. Ella A. Hoskins died at 5:35 o'clock Saturday afternoon at her home, 822 Cottonwood, after a 3-weeks' illness. Mrs. Hoskins was born in Antioch, Ill, November 26, 1853. Her maiden name was Ella A. Hall. She was married in Antioch to Erskine Hoskins in 1872, and came to Lyon County in 1880 (1878 according to Erskine's obituary and Ella's autograph book). She had lived in Emporia since 1909. Mr. Hoskins died here in 1920. Two daughters survive Mrs. Hoskins. They are Mrs. Flora Hysom, 931 Lawrence, Emporia, and Mrs. Mable McCaw, of Chicago. Mrs. Hoskins was a member of the First Methodist church of Emporia. Funeral services were to be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon at the First Methodist church, conducted by Rev. A.E. Henry, and interment was to be in Maplewood cemetery. Emporia Daily Gazette, February 19, 1934 ************************************** Funeral of Mrs. E.A. Hoskins. Funeral services for Mrs. Ella A. Hoskins, who died Saturday afternoon, were held Monday afternoon in the First Methodist church. Rev. A.E. Henry conducted the services. A quartet composed of Mrs. Charles R. Umfleet, Mrs. O.J. Courtney, Harry Wayman and Marshall Randel sang, accompanied by Mrs. H.W. Richmond. The pallbearers were C.C. Long, A.R. Moore, J.E. Hawkins, T.D. Little, E.W. Ryno and F.M. Spellman. Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery. Out-of-town persons who attended the funeral were Mrs. Mable McCaw, of Chicago, Ill., a daughter of Mrs. Hoskins, who was called to Emporia a week ago because of Mrs. Hoskins serious condition; and Mrs Bernard Cusick, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Will Hysom of Americus. Besides her two daughters, Mrs. Hysom (sic, actually Mrs. Hoskins) is survived by four grandchildren, Mrs. Lorena Thornley, of Chicago, and Carroll, Harriett and Warren Hysom, of Emporia.
