Description	:	Mrs Ella Saum Called Higher Ella Chance was born on December 28, 1887, in Moweaqua, Shelby County, Ill. When about five years of age she left the scenes of her early childhood and came with her parents to Edgar, Neb. Here she grew to womanhood and resided until her death on Friday evening, January 27, 1922. On January 8, 1908, she was united in marriage to Martin Edward Saum, also of Edgar. To this union one child was born, Cletas, age 11 years. These two remain to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and dutiful mother. Here she grew to womanhood and resided until her death on Friday evening, January 27, 1922. On January 8, 1908, she was united in marriage to Martin Edward Saum, also of Edgar. To this union one child was born, Cletas, age 11 years. These two remain to mourn the loss of a faithful wife and dutiful mother. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Chance; one brother, Arthur Chance; and three sisters, Mrs. Ernest Adams, Miss Mary Chance and Mrs. John O'Connell, the last named of Sterling Colorado. About fifteen years ago in the McConnell revival in Edgar, Mrs Saum acknowledged her faith in the Master and was buried with her Lord in Christian baptism by Brother B. F. Coonradt shortly afterward. She was a member of the Church of Christ in good, standing and has ever been faithful to the obligations placed upon her by the call of service. She affiliated herself with the Eastern Star on May 19, 1920. Sunday afternoon, January 29, the church where Mrs. Saum had been a faithful attendant was filled to capacity with sorrowing friends who thus sought to show their regard for the one departed and their sympathy of the bereaved relatives. Mrs. C. C. Stout was organist. The choir sang "Jesus Is Mine." "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Thy Will Be Done." the scripture lesson was a description of the heavenly home as given in Revelations. The address by the pastor, Y. S. Beans, presented faith in Christ as the only right attitude of mind toward God and death was defined as but the door to a more abundant life to those who are sustained by this faith. The casket was covered with beautiful flowers and loving hands had draped for her and banked with bloom and clinging vines the altar railing which her hands had so often deftly and tenderly draped for others gone before.
