Description	:	Mrs. Willard Joy Ella Gretchen Sallee, a daughter of Jonathan W. and Amanda Buford Sallee, was born south of Gorin, Missouri, on July 18, 1905, and departed this life at Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, Iowa, on December 9, 1983. She was united in marriage to Willard Joy near Gorin, Missouri, on December 14, 1924. To this union two children were born, J.W. and Natalie. Gretchen united with the Harmony Grove Baptist Church in early girlhood and later moved her membership to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Gorin, where she remained a faithful member until the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Willard Joy near Gorin, Missouri, on December 14, 1924. To this union two children were born, J.W. and Natalie. Gretchen united with the Harmony Grove Baptist Church in early girlhood and later moved her membership to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Gorin, where she remained a faithful member until the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Luther and Harvey; two sisters, Ocle (Mrs. Perl Creason, Sr.), Reba (Mrs. Francis Frazee); her daughter, Natalie (Mrs. Donald Arnold); two grandsons, Darrel J. Arnold and Kevin Joy. She is survived by her husband. Willard, of the home in Gorin; her son, J.W. Joy of Keokuk, Iowa; grandchildren, Duane Arnold and wife, Sandra, Memphis, Missouri, Dana Hendricks and husband, Randy, Keokuk, Iowa, Denise Lowry of Keokuk, Iowa. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Mrs. Joy spent all her life near and in Gorin, Missouri. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family and her many friends and neighbors will sadly miss her. Funeral services were conducted by the Payne-Gerth Funeral Homes on Sunday, December 11, 1983, 1:30 p.m. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Gorin, Missouri, with the Rev. Roy Starbuck officiating. the musicians were Flora Epperson playing the piano and Marsha Davis playing the organ. Pallbearers were Kenny Clatt, Lonnie Clatt, Cecil Kiekel. Weldon Tague, Clark Ewing and Bill Dale. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Gorin, Missouri. Memphis, Missouri, Memphis Democrat, 15 Dec 1983, p. 15, col. 3&4
