Description	:	WESTFIELD, NC (Brown Mountain Community) ~ Mrs. Ella Mae Simmons Ball, age 99, of NC Hwy 66 N, Westfield, NC, formerly of Greensboro, NC, died Monday, September 1, 2008, at Ridgecrest Assisted Living, Mount Airy, NC. She was born April 7, 1909, in Stokes County, to the late James William & Sarah Anne "Annie" Nunn Simmons. During WWII, Mrs. Ball worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC while her husband spent a tour of duty with the US Army stationed in Italy. Read More	WESTFIELD, NC (Brown Mountain Community) ~ Mrs. Ella Mae Simmons Ball, age 99, of NC Hwy 66 N, Westfield, NC, formerly of Greensboro, NC, died Monday, September 1, 2008, at Ridgecrest Assisted Living, Mount Airy, NC. She was born April 7, 1909, in Stokes County, to the late James William & Sarah Anne "Annie" Nunn Simmons. During WWII, Mrs. Ball worked at the Pentagon in Washington, DC while her husband spent a tour of duty with the US Army stationed in Italy. After that she worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Greensboro, NC as an auditor and retired after 25 years of service. She attended Brown Mountain Baptist Church. Survivors: Sister: Ethel Simmons Carter, Mount Airy, NC; Sisters-in-law: Pattie Hart Simmons, Westfield, NC, Rachel Vaden Simmons, McLeansville, NC; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ball was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Thomas Ball, three sisters and four brothers. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Brown Mountain Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Carter officiating, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M., at the church, immediately before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brown Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Gail Durham, 1535 Pilot Westfield Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
