Description	:	Funeral services for Mrs. Hans Thuen (Ella) Thuen, 89, of Portland were held Friday, Dec. 8 in the Aurdal Lutheran Church, Portland. Rev. Arthur Ree officiated. She died Monday, Dec. 4, 1978, on her 89th birthday anniversary. Mrs. Clarence Studlien was organist and Oscar Jemtrud was organist. Pallbearers were David Strand, Harlan Strand, Jerald Strand, James A. Strand, Robert Thuen, Wayne Thuen, Gary Thuen and Donald Thuen. Interment is in the Aurdal Cemetery. Ella Bjerke was born Dec. 4, 1889, near Northwood where she grew to womanhood. She was married March 14, 1919 at Northwood. The couple lived at Northwood, Grand Forks and the Mayville-Portland area where they farmed. Mr. Thuen was employed by the State Mill and Elevator and the Steele County Highway Department. She had been a resident of the Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, since May 14, 1977. She was a member of the Aurdal Ladies Aid, where she had served as treasurer for many years, the American Legion Auxilliary and the Riverdale Club of Portland. Survivors include two sons and four daughters. Harold Thuen, Mrs. James (Henrietta) Strand, and Mrs Lawerence (Alice) Higdem, all of Portland; Rueben Thuen, Hayward, Calif.; Mrs. Clarence (Judy) Strand, Amenia; Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Bauer, Fremont, Calif.; three brothers and two sisters, Bernhard J. Bjerke, Portland; Oscar Bjerke, Hatton; Albert Bjerke, St. Peter, Minn.; Mrs. Ben (Clara) Sordahl, Roseau, Minn.; Mrs. Josephine Kaufman, Bellingham, Wash; 28 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
