Description	:	Ellen H. Myrstol, age 86, passed away Saturday, April 9, 1988 at the Sweet Grass Community Hospital following a short illness. She was born September 30, 1901 in Fenton. Michigan, the daughter of William and Alberta Hess. Her dad was a chemical engineer and they had lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, Chicago and St. Louis. Missouri. Her father wanted to go west, leaving St. Louis to Alberta, Canada on train. They went by covered wagon to their homestead. They lived in a tent until a sod house was built and then later a frame house was built. Read More	Ellen H. Michigan, the daughter of William and Alberta Hess. Her dad was a chemical engineer and they had lived in Oklahoma, Kansas, Chicago and St. Louis. Missouri. They lived in a tent until a sod house was built and then later a frame house was built. She came to Big Timber, Montana and stayed with her aunt Edna Paulson and worked in die Paulson Grocery. She graduated from Sweet Grass County High School in Big Timber, attended Dillon Normal School al Dillon, Montana and College of Bellingham, Washington. She taught in several rural schools in Sweet Grass County. On June 13, 1924 she was married to Carl G. Myrstol in the Presbyterian Church in Bellingham, Washington. They had ranched many years west of Big Timber in the sheep business. Survivors include 6 sons, Donald, David and Elmer, all of Big Timber, Ralph and Harold of Clyde Park, MT and James of Gillette, WY; 1 daughter. Ruth Peterson of Big Timber; a brother, Edmond Hess, Chemainus. British Columbia: a sister, Virginia McBreen, of Mission City. British Columbia; 36 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl G Myrstol on May 13, 1971 and a grandson. Allan Myrstol. She enjoyed her family, reading, needlework and gardening. She was an active member of the Kill Kare Klub, a member of the Big Timber Lutheran Church and active in the A.L.C.W. and a member of the Historical Society. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 pm. at the Big Timber Lutheran Church with Rev. Allen Haugen officiating.
