Read More	EWALT, ELLEN LEORA—Ellen Leora Ewalt was born in Geneva township, Fillmore county, on December 24, 1929, the younger of two daughters to Ray Tibbals Ainsworth and Pearl Elizabeth Lovegrove Ainsworth. A family gathering had been planned at the Robert Lovegrove home on Christmas Eve, 1929, but by that evening Ellen Leora was born. She passed away at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva on January 5, 1992, at the age of 62 years and 12 days. Ellen was raised on a farm northwest of Geneva. She entered the country school at District 14, later attending the District 81 School and completing the eighth grade there. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1947. Ellen attended the University of Nebraska for two years, majoring in fine Arts. While attending the University, she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. On Father’s Day, June 18, 1950, Ellen was married to Robert Lee Ewalt at the First Methodist Church, Geneva. They were to spend the first few years of their marriage involved in a military life, as Bob was inducted into the Army and spent most of his two-year assignment stationed in Germany. Ellen joined him there in the fall of 1952, and occasionally they traveled about Europe. She returned home from Germany in May, 1953. Following Bob’s release from the service, he arrived home in late September, 1953. They lived for a short time in Geneva, and later moved to their home on the farm in Stanton township, south of Geneva where 26 years of their married life was spent. Ellen was a dedicated companion to Bob in their farming operation, helping out whenever needed. To this union, three children were born: Barbara Jean, Penny Jo and Steven Lee. They were pleased to celebrate 40 years of marriage in June of 1990, with a memorable surprise celebration arranged by their three children. Her talents were many, including gardening and landscaping which is evident by the abundance of flowers and plants surrounding their home, where they moved in Geneva in March 1981. She derived great pleasure from decorating her home and entertaining their friends and relatives. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, being involved in United Methodist Women and her Circle, and a member of Chapter O, P.E.O. She enjoyed her bridge groups and working on paintings and needlework. In recent years, she developed an interest in researching genealogy with her mother. Ellen and Bob sought enjoyment from traveling, especially to the south during the winter months. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose first concern was for the care and well-being of her family. Her grandchildren were a very special part of her life. Her cheerful personality brought to her many lasting friendships. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray T. Ainsworth and Pearl Lovegrove Ainsworth; sister, Evelyn L. Lauber; and an infant brother. Ellen will be greatly missed by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Barbara J. Kamler, Penny J. Aspegren and husband, Daniel G.; son, Steven L. Ewalt and wife, Joni K. Ewalt; and six grandchildren, Chad and Kyle Kamler, Derek and Ryan Aspegren and Jill and Maddie Ewalt. Funeral services were conducted at the United Methodist Church in Geneva at 10:30 a.m., on January 7, 1992, with Rev. Stanley Rider officiating. Judy Ackland accompanied Kelly Eich who sang “How Great Thou Art” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Those serving as pallbearers were Robert E. Bettger, Jim Lovegrove, John Burt, Tom Lovegrove, Rick Hughes, Stanley Allgood, Dan Lovegrove and John Robert Lovegrove. Honorary bearer was Kevin Dand. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery.
