Sept 9, 1977 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs. Ellen Margaret Brackett, 93, of the Carroll Manor, formerly of 915 N. Clark St., Carroll, died Friday morning at the Carroll Manor. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home, Carroll, after 7 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Brackett, daughter of Edward and Mary Peck Crossett, was born April 9, 1884 at Boone, Iowa. She was married to Frank J. Brackett. Mrs. Brackett worked at the Daily Times Herald for many years. Mr. Brackett died in 1937 and she and her brother, Chester, made their home together until his death in 1965. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Carroll; Order of the Eastern Star of Carroll; the White Shrine of Clinton, of which she was a 50 year member, and also a 50 year member of the Daughters of American Revolution. She had made her home at the Carroll Manor since 1989. Surviving are several nieces and nephews: Florence Beddle of Onawa; Jane Fahey of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Otis Rogers of San Bernadino, Calif.; Mrs. Vernon Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.; Ardon Jones of Sioux City; Edward Jones of Onawa; Darlene Jensen of Onawa; Leilah Ardnt of Onawa; and several cousins.
