Description	:	Ellen Martha Doody, daughter of George and Eliza Doody was born in Stour Bridge, England, September 7, 1857 and died January 29, 1940 at the home of her daughter, Nellie at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 22 days. She was the tenth child of sixteen children, seven daughters and nine sons. The latter six being half brothers and sisters. Her mother died when she was three months old. Read More	Ellen Martha Doody, daughter of George and Eliza Doody was born in Stour Bridge, England, September 7, 1857 and died January 29, 1940 at the home of her daughter, Nellie at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 22 days. She was the tenth child of sixteen children, seven daughters and nine sons. The latter six being half brothers and sisters. Her mother died when she was three months old. She was married to Charles Henry Smith, May 8, 1881 at was Worchester, England. They sailed from Liverpool, England on the steamer "City of Rome" and landed at New York Harbor. They immediately entrained for Nebraska and arrived at Sutton Oct. 30, 1884, locating finally at Fairfield where they resided for ten years, later moving to Edgar and finally to Superior in 1919 where she has since made her home. She joined St James Episcopal Church at the age of 18 years at Wollaston, England. In later years became a member of First Presbyterian Church, Edgar, Nebr. Her husband preceded her in death January 8, 1925. Ten children came to bless this union. Three died in infancy. One son, Loris Henry Smith of Montrose, Calif., six daughters; Nellie Stansbury of Superior, Nebr., Mae Groves of Fremont, Nebr., Carrie Kline of Monte Vista, Colo., Laura Davidson of Fairbury, Nebr., Maude Ritterbush of Nelson, Nebr., Grace Stephen of Wichita, Kans. Eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two half-sisters, and two half-brothers in England, a number of nephews and nieces and a host, of friends remain to mourn her death. She was a faithful wife and loving mother, always thoughtful of others and always trusted in her Lord. Her greatest joy was in her family and her home She an especial favorite of the young people. Funeral services were conducted from the Zulauf-Denny Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at, 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. W. A. Stockwell of the First Presbyterian Church and interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
