Description	:	Ellen never married and stayed on the home place with her brother Joe and helped raise the younger children and her nephew Gerald McPherson after their mother died. Joseph T. McPherson, age 50, was found living with his sister Ellen McPherson, age 44, at the time of the 1910 U.S. Census for Hackberry township, Labette county, Kansas. Their nephew Glen G. McPherson, age 21 was also living with them at this time. Joe owned a farm on which he held a mortgage. Ellen's brother Joe never married. This newspaper obituary is old so no name of paper or date when it appeared...(thank you Bonnie Ross for sharing it): Ellen McPherson was born near Economy, Wayne Co., Ind., Dec. 29, 1865, and departed this life Aug., 3, 1917, age 51 yrs, 7 mo, and 5 days. She came to Kansas with her parents in Nov. 1882, locating near Cecil, where she united with the M.E. Church and has lived a christian life until she was called to the Great Beyond. Ellen's illness began Jan. 15, and on June 27, she suffered a stroke of paralysis. During all her illness she bore her sufferings very patiently. She leaves to mourn her loss 5 brothers and 3 sisters, Joseph T. and Mrs. Jenny Murphy, of Bartlett, Mrs. Sidella Herre and Charles P. of Ashton, Idaho, Mrs. Alice Brown and George of Hagerstown, Ind., John of Los Angeles, Cal., and David, of Riverside, Cal. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church Saturday at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev. West, assisted by Rev. Dixon, of Edna. The Rebekah Lodge, of which she was a faithful member attended in a body and had charge of the services at Lake Creek Cemetery.
