Read More	Ellen Kerr, of Billings, Montana, (formerly of Alma) passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 in Billings, Montana at the St. Vincent Health Care. Ellen was born September 22, 1916, on a farm northwest of Alma in Harlan County, Nebraska the eldest of four children born to Lovell Robert and Mable Clara( Coe) Walker. Ellen was baptized and became a member of the United Methodist Church, Alma, Nebraska where she was an active member. Ellen was also involved with the United Methodist Women's organization at the church. Ellen grew to adulthood on the family farm between Alma and Orleans, Nebraska and attended Midway Rural School District #76, through the 8th grade. Ellen attended high school in Alma, Nebraska where she graduated with the class of 1933. She took normal training in high school to prepare her to become a teacher and attended The University of Nebraska at Kearney. She taught school several years in Harlan County, Nebraska, District #6, District #59 and Midway #76. On February 24, 1939 she was united in marriage to Clair Willard Kerr at her family home. To this union two children were born: Donna June and Eugene Robert. They made their first home on a farm south of Huntley, Nebraska, later moving to a farm north of Orleans, Nebraska in 1944. In 1975 they moved to Alma, Nebraska. On March 20, 1994, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clair. In 1999, Ellen bid a fond farewell to her Alma, Nebraska home and friends and moved to Billings, Montana to be near her daughter and son-in-law. She resided at Aspen View Retirement Home for 12 years and was living at Aspen Meadows Nursing Home at the time of her death. She looked forward to visits from family members and friends whenever possible and always insisted they join her in dining in Aspen View's dining room, where she took pride in introducing them to her Aspen View friends. Ellen was preceded in death by: prents; spouse, Clair Willard Kerr; brothers: Lawrence and Dr. Hiram Walker and sisters-in-law, Ella Marie and Vada Walker.
