OBITUARY: THE NEW ALBIN MIRROR [supplement printed by THE LANSING MIRROR] Friday, October 16, 1885, page 1 DIED - On the 9th day of October at her home in New Albin, Mrs. Herman Martin aged 35 yrs. Mrs. Martin was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weymuller of Iowa Township, Allamakee county, Iowa, was born at Germantown, Pennsylvania on the 25th day of June, 1850. She was married to Herman Martin on September 12, 1869 and died on October 9, 1885. She leaves a devoted husband, and seven children, three boys and 4 girls besides numerous relatives and an uncounted host of personal friends to mourn her loss. Mrs. Martin was a devoted wife, and a true mother; the light of her home, a most excellent neighbor, and a generous friend. In the true hearing of a mothers heart, she left bereft chidren, sorrowing husband, and mourning friends, the glad thought that she died in peace with God and man. She was buried Sunday October 11 at 2:00 p.m. from the M. E. church in New Albin. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Reep of Lansing. She was followed to her last resting place by the largest concourse of people that ever assembled on any funeral occasion in New Albin.
