Description	:	Elmer A. Lewis, 91, of 24744 Floris Road, died at 8 p.m. Oct. 17, 2008 at his home. He was born Jan. 31, 1917 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Edward Arlo and Anna Marie Johnson Lewis. He married Hazel Marie Harness Nov. 20, 1938. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1935, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at John Morrell and Co. for over 30 years, retiring as a chief clerk in 1973. He was pitcher for Morrell Softball Team for many years.He was a member of First Lutheran Church, both Ottumwa and Bloomfield Men's Bowling Associations, inducted in the Bloomfield Men's Bowling Hall of Fame in 1997. He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge No. 347, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 114, O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 of the American Legion and guest member of Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving is his wife; a son, Rick Lewis of Ottumwa; a daughter, Sheri (Willy) Boettcher of Ottumwa; three grandchildren, Shawn Lewis, Julie Springer and Sheri Blackburn; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Doug Bookin, two brothers, Edward and Kenneth Lewis and a sister, Virginia Sponsler. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev.
