He was born October 28, 1926 in Independence, Va., the Saddle Creek Community, to Lester and Carrie Pierce Ward. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired auto parts Salesman. The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va., pending completion of funeral arrangements. The family sincerely requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, C/O Mrs. Abigail Boyer, 403 Churchview Lane, Fries, Va. 24330 or Independence Vol. Fire Dept., P.
