Read More	SERVCIES FOR ELMER NEWBERG Elmer Jonathan Newberg, the son of Andrew and Emma Ekstrand Newberg, was born April 10, 1887 in Galesburg, Illinois, and passed away December 27, 1970 at the Shady Lawn Rest Home in Villisca, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Beulah Francis Joslyn on July 24, 1912, who passed away November 1918. Born to this union were two daughters, Ida, Omaha, Nebraska, May, Omaha, Nebraska, and one son Chester, who is deceased. On November 13, 1919 he was united in marriage to Mine Belle Smith. To this union were born four sons, Dennis, Vallejo, California, Burleigh, Shenandoah, Iowa, Cecil of Villisca, Iowa, and Bernard, deceased. Two step-chidden, Vera Mason, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Manford Smith of Pittsburg, California. Preceding him in death were his wife Beulah, his parents, three brothers, two sisters, two sons, one grandchild, and two great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and seven children, one brother, Alec, 18 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. He was a lifetime resident of Villisca, Iowa. He was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 30, from the Sutphen Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Dotson officiating. Mrs. Frances Gray sang, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden” accompanied by Mrs. Mabel Dunn. Flower bearers were Mrs. Elenor Shaver and Mrs. Julia Sprague. Casket bearers were Earl Petty, Oliver Anderson, Orville Shaver, Lester Loghry, Dale McKinley, and Gene Brock. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery.
