Description	:	SERVICES HELD FOR MINNIE B. NEWBERG Funeral services were held Saturday, September 23, 1972, at 2 p.m. from the Sutphen Funeral Home for Minnie B. Newberg. Ref. Raymond C. Foster officiated. Flower bearers were Mrs Orville Shaver, and Mrs. Julia Sprague. Music was by Mrs. Neal Gray and accompanied by Mrs. Quincy Dunn. The selections were, “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.’” Mrs. Gene Brock was in charge of the register book. Minnie Belle Newberg, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Figgins Towers was born September 16, 1890 near Grant, Iowa and passed away at Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak on September 10, 1972. She was united in marriage in 1911 to Walter Smith, who preceded her in death. To this union was born one daughter, Vera of Minden, Iowa, a son, Manford of Pittsburg California, and Harold, who is deceased. On November 13, 1919, she was united in marriage to Elmer Newberg, who passed away December 27, 1970. To this union was born four sons, Dennis of Vallejo, California, Bernard, deceased, Burleigh of Shenandoah, Iowa and Cecil of Villisca. There was also three stepchildren, Ida of Omaha, Nebraska, May of El Dorado, Kansas, and Chester, deceased. She is survived by five children, two step-children, 18 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren. She was a lifelong resident of the Villisca area and a member of the Advent Christian Church.
