Read More	VETERAN OF WORLD WAR BURIED HERE Elmer Handy Died At His Home Following Long Illness Buried Tuesday In Mariner's Cemetery Elmer Handy, esteemed resident of this city and a veteran of the World War, passed away at his home on Mariner's Road on Saturday last following an illness of a year. Born forty-eight years ago, he was the son of the late George T. Handy and Sally Hoffman, who were well-known and highly respected citizens of this city. Though ill for the period of a year, the deceased was never known to complain and bore his afflictions with real Christian fortitude. Through the long illness he was ever cheerful and greeted his many callers with a warm and sincere smile. Mr. Handy had many sterling traits of character and he was at all times friendly to everyone. Anyone who knew him instantly became his friend. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Ward Handy and one son, Ward Handy, who is fourteen years of age. One sister, Mrs. Ava Hoffman, of Florida, also survives. Funeral services were held from the Mariner's M. P. Church, Tuesday afternoon at 2.00 p. m. with the pastor, Rev. W. C. Mumford in charge. The funeral was largely attended and the many floral pieces banked around his casket further attested to the esteem in which he was held. Interment was in the family plot in the Mariner's cemetery. At the grave the flag which was draped over the casket, was presented to his widow. Pall-bearers at the funeral were J. Henry Bedsworth, Reginald Cox, W. E.
