Description	:	The Recorder February 28, 1997 Elmer Lyndon Ruckman, 82, of Hightown died Monday, Feb. 24, 1997 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. He was born June 15, 1914 at Blue Grass, a son of John and Clemmie Hevener Ruckman. Mr. Ruckman was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Blue Grass Ruritan Club for 43 years. He was born June 15, 1914 at Blue Grass, a son of John and Clemmie Hevener Ruckman. Mr. Ruckman was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Blue Grass Ruritan Club for 43 years. He retired from the Virginia Department of Highways after 30 years of service. His wife, Mary Bennett Ruckman, died Feb. 14, 1988. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Reese of Asheville, N.C.; a son, Sam Ruckman of Yorktown; two sisters, Dahlia Waggoner and Wreathia Ruckman, both of Hightown; two brothers, Johnnie Ruckman of Selma, Ala. and Virgil Ruckman of Clearwater, Fla.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Ruckman. A funeral service will be conducted 1 pm Friday (today) in the Obaugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Peter Banyia, the Rev. Richard Gibson and the Rev. Joe Bradford. Burial will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery.
