Description	:	John was born at Crabbottom (Now Blue Grass). He was reared in Durbin, W.Va. while his father worked there. As a young man he was employed as an engineer for the Cass Railroad Company. While attending the Hightown Academy located at Hightown, Virginia, he met Clemmie Hevener. They were married in 1911 & eventually bought a farm near Hightown and raised a family there. Highland Recorder January 12, 1912 Ruckman-Hevener A pretty home wedding took place at the residence of Mr. J. Wesley Hevener, near Hightown, on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1911, when his daughter, Miss Clemmie Virginia, became the wife of Mr. John A. Ruckman, of Durbin, W. Va. Just at 12 M. the party entered the parlor to the strains of the wedding march, played by Miss Chloe Ruckman, sister of the groom. The first couple to enter was Mr. Jerry Eshbaugh, of Marianville, Pa. and Miss Bessie Ruckman sister of the groom. Then came Mr. Walter Smarr of Harrisville W. Va. and Miss Enma May Hevener, sister of the bride. After these came the bride and groom and the ceremony was performed by the bride's pastor Rev. L. L. Lowance. The party proceeded to the dining room where a sumptuous dinner was served The bride and groom expected to leave on the following day for Cumberland, Md. and other points East. The good wishes of a large circle of friends will follow the happy young couple.
