She was born August 23, 1926 at rural Adams to Ekke and Clara Mahler Behrens. She was baptized September 26, 1926 and confirmed June 16, 1940 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church west of Sterling. She attended Harnley Country School through the 8th grade, graduated from Adams High School in 1944 and then attended the University of Nebraska. She then taught school for six years. Read More	Elnore (Babe) Maxine Ruemelin, 87, of Adams, died at Gold Crest Retirement Center on Saturday morning July 19, 2014. She was born August 23, 1926 at rural Adams to Ekke and Clara Mahler Behrens. She was baptized September 26, 1926 and confirmed June 16, 1940 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church west of Sterling. She attended Harnley Country School through the 8th grade, graduated from Adams High School in 1944 and then attended the University of Nebraska. She then taught school for six years. She married Lloyd Ruemelin on September 23, 1949 at the American Lutheran Church of Adams. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Adams and belonged to the parish education committee, Dorcas Circle and had taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Junior Women's Club, neighborhood Bible study of Adams, Community Club and the Leisure Life Club. She had been a volunteer for Gold Crest Retirement Center for 25 years. She was also co-owner with her husband at Lloyd's Feed and Seed for 24 years. She loved talking to anyone and was a friend to everyone. Survivors include her husband Lloyd of Adams; four daughters, Rita Fix and husband Calvin of Cortland, Charlene Marschman and husband Terry of Fairbury, Patricia Searcey and husband Max of Marysville, KS and LaVon Parde and husband Kevin of Geneva; eight grandchildren, Craig Fix and wife Kim, Mindy and Bret Marschman, Shannon Bussmann and husband Mike, Shane Searcey, Luke, Nate and Abbie Parde; four great-grandchildren, Braylon Marschman, Beau, Bailee and Bree Bussmann; one sister, Bernice Boeve of Tracy, CA; one brother, Arnold Behrens of Beatrice; four sisters-in-law, Donna Acton of Beatrice, Ruth Allen of Moore, OK, Maxine Behrens of Adams and Bonnie Ward of Land O'Lakes, FL; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Corey Fix; two sisters, Florence Splichal and Leona Hale; three brothers, Urban, Alvin and Roy Behrens. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the American Lutheran Church of Adams with Pastor Nathan Metzger officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church. A memorial has been established to the American Lutheran Church and Gold Crest Retirement Center both of Adams with Eldon and Deb Ideus in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Sunday and at the Fox Funeral Home of Adams from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday with the family meeting and greeting friends and family from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and at the church one hour preceding the services on Tuesday. Fox Funeral Home of Adams in charge of arrangements.
