Elroy Steeven Oltmanns was born on a farm west of Lennox, South Dakota on August 1, 1933, the son of Bert S. and Ada (Cramer) Oltmanns. Read More	Elroy Oltmanns, 77, died Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Canton Good Samaritan Center due to injuries received in an accidental fall on August 5, 2010. Elroy Steeven Oltmanns was born on a farm west of Lennox, South Dakota on August 1, 1933, the son of Bert S. and Ada (Cramer) Oltmanns. He attended Miller rural school and then moved northeast of Lennox with his parents where he attended Bedford rural school. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. On October 17, 1957 he was united in marriage to Rosella Lier at the Presbyterian parsonage in Lennox. Following their marriage they farmed southwest of Lennox and moved to their farm east of Lennox where Elroy farmed. In 1999 they retired and moved into Lennox. Elroy was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and a trustee. Music was a very important part of Elroy's life. He sang and played his keyboard, fiddle and guitar. He played for the DeVries Quartet and was part of the Evergreen Trio for many years. He and Rosie loved to travel and he helped with harvesting, always a farmer at heart. He was preceded in death by his father on February 17, 1976 and his mother on February 23, 2006. Grateful for having shared his life is his faithful and devoted wife, Rosella; his aunts and uncle, Anton and Iva Oltmanns and Josephine Oltmanns, all of Lennox, as well as many cousins and a host of friends. Memorial services will begin 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Faith Presbyterian Church, Lennox with private burial to precede the service at the Lennox Cemetery.
