Description	:	Elsie Hanson, age 95, Willow Lake, the widow of Maynard, died in the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown early Wednesday morning, October 28, 2015. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 4-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue at the Church in Willow Lake on Monday morning after 9AM. Read More	Elsie Hanson, age 95, Willow Lake, the widow of Maynard, died in the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown early Wednesday morning, October 28, 2015. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 4-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue at the Church in Willow Lake on Monday morning after 9AM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 10:30 AM in the Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS) at Willow Lake with The Reverend Randy Bader officiating. The organist will be Aris Schmidt. Elsie's grandsons, Ben, Brad, Justin, Allan, Clint and Kaley, will be the casketbearers with her granddaughters, Candice, Carrie, Karmin, Shalon, Misty, and Kyla, serving as the honorary casketbearers. A luncheon will be served in the Church basement following the services. Following the lunch, burial will take place in The Hague Lutheran Cemetery northwest of Willow Lake. She was born Elsie Marie Caroline Thies on June 28, 1920 on the parents farm in Hague Township, northwest of Willow Lake, the daughter of Henry, Jr. and Emma (Pieschke) Thies. Elsie attended The Hague School through the eighth grade. On December 7, 1940 she was united in marriage to Maynard Hanson at Madison, MN. The couple lived in Hague Township before his induction into the service in July of 1942. During this time, Elsie lived with her parents. In November of 1942 he was discharged and the couple lived and farmed in Hague Township since that time. After his death in 1998, Elsie continued living on the farm until moving in with her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie “Billie” and Kim Madsen near Carpenter. She lived there for 4 years, then moved into the Roetell Assisted Living Center in Clark for a little over a year and then on her birthday in 2011, she became a resident of the Jenkins Living Center at Watertown. Elsie was baptized and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church – The Hague and was a member there until the Church closed and then joined with the Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS) in Willow Lake. During her younger years, Elsie played “kitten” ball in Carpenter and the surrounding communities, loving baseball all the years and still enjoyed watching baseball on TV. Other fond hobbies included embroidery, sewing, quilting and baking. She will long be remembered for her homemade baked bread and pies! Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a brother, Albert in 1963 and a son-in-law, Darrell Frederick. Survivors include 5 daughters, Sharon “Heidi” (Rocky) O’Daniel of Ft. Pierre , Marlys Frederick (Jim Beckwith), Gayle Stover (Larry Nielsen) all of Pierre, Brenda Ice of Ft. Pierre, and Valerie “Billie” (Kim) Madsen of Carpenter; 12 grandchildren, Ben, Brad, Candice, Carrie, Justin, Karmin, Allan, Shalon, Misty, Clint, Kaley, and Kyla; 34 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
