Read More	Elsie May Delaney, daughter of Albert and Mary Bristow Belding born on October 10, 1890 in Adams County, Iowa and died June 19, 1977 at The Good Samaritan Center in Villisca after a lengthy illness. She moved to Villisca with her parents at an early age. She taught school in rural Adams and Montgomery Counties before marriage. One November 20, 1912, she was united in marriage to George William Delaney at Kansas City, Kansas. She was a Charter Member of the villisca United Methodist Church and was a Gold Star Mother. She played the piano for the first Opera House in Villisca. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George W. Delaney, three sons, George W. Delaney, Jr., Woodrow Delaney, and Harland Delaney, one brother, two sisters and two grandchildren. She is survived by four daughters; Mrs. Frank (Leta) Garnsey, Nebraska City, Nebraska; Mrs. Clifford (Galore) Lafferty, Atlantic, Iowa; Mrs. Glenn (Edna) Fengel, Villisca, Iowa, and Mrs. Wayne (Donna) Scott of Nodaway, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Paul Pote, Bridgwater, Iowa; Mrs. Clifford Yarrow, Eugene, Oregon; and Mrs. Ernest Ezzell, Denver, Colorado; 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Wednesday, June 22, 1977 at 10:30 a.m. from the United Methodist Church, Villisca, Iowa with Rev. Clair Kerns officiating. Flower bearers were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bangston. Music was provided by Mrs. Robert Harris and was accompanied by Martin Hentsch. Musical selections were “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” In charge of the Registry was Mrs. Wayne Spencer. Casket Bearers were, John Fengel, Joel Fengel, Russell Scott, Paul McDonald, Gale Fengel, and Thomas Fengel. Interment was in the Villisca Cemetery, Villisca, Iowa. Arrangements were provided by Sutphen Funeral Home, Villisca, Iowa. Villisca Review, Thursday, June 23, 1977, page 8 ---------- Elsie and her husband, George William Delaney were divorced. She is buried with her son, Harlan in the Villisca Cemetery.
