Description	:	GLOUCESTER POINT — Elsie Wilson Boyd died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2000, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Mrs. Boyd was born in Carroll County, Md., March 13, 1905. She was the daughter of Mamie Sibley and Ethelbert Wilson. Following the death of her mother, she was raised from the age of three by her father and stepmother, Mamie Roane Wilson, at Deep Point Farm, Harcum. She married Lawrence Edgar Boyd of Baltimore in 1928, and moved to Nutley, N.J., where she lived until 1971 when they retired to Gloucester. Mrs. Boyd was born in Carroll County, Md., March 13, 1905. She was the daughter of Mamie Sibley and Ethelbert Wilson. Following the death of her mother, she was raised from the age of three by her father and stepmother, Mamie Roane Wilson, at Deep Point Farm, Harcum. She married Lawrence Edgar Boyd of Baltimore in 1928, and moved to Nutley, N.J., where she lived until 1971 when they retired to Gloucester. Mrs. Boyd leaves two daughters, Anna Grace Foster of Williamsburg and Virginia Lee Boyd of Boston; two sons, Lawrence E. Boyd Jr. of Gloucester Point and William McKendree Boyd and his wife, Zohara M. of Hays, N.C.; two grandchildren, Andrea Foster Deagle and husband, Doug, of Williamsburg, Va., and Lewis Foster III of Williamsburg; one great-grandson, William Wallace Deagle; three brothers, Welford Wilson of Gloucester, Edwin Wilson of Deltaville and Earl Wilson of Salisbury, Md.; two sisters, Alice Wilson Hogg and Eloise Wilson Fary, both of Gloucester; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie's humor and inquiring mind were the delight of her family to the end and her family and friends will miss her supply of information and common sense immensely. The great love of her life was politics and history; her most admired hero was Thomas Jefferson and her grief in dying in September was not to live to vote the Democratic ticket. Graveside services, conducted by the Reverend Theodore Haddix Jr., will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Abingdon Episcopal Church Cemetery. In her memory, memorial contributions may be made to Abingdon Volunteer Rescue Squad, Box 247, Gloucester Point, VA 23062 or Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, memory of Elsie Boyd, Box 1130, Gloucester, VA 23061.
