Description	:	Elspeth was born in Inverness, Scotland and emigrated to Grey Co. with her family in 1840. Info. found in a book "A History of the County of Grey" - "At the northern end of the Garafraxa Road as it leaves the township (Bentinck) is the village of Dornoch. One of the earliest post offices outside of Durham was opened here and was named Latona. It was kept by an English military man, Mark Appleby, whose home was always hospitably open to all strangers passing through." Mark Appleby and Elspeth Fraser were married on Oct. 11, 1842 in the Eastern District of Ontario. They had two daughters Eliza Ann and Isabella. In the 1881 Census for Glenelg Twp. it lists Mark Appleby, age 81, Postmaster living with Alex McClement, 50, Stone Cutter; Isabella 36 and their 5 kids. Mark died on June 30, 1881 at age 81 in Glenelg Twp. and was listed as an Army Pensioner and Postmaster. Elisa Appleby died at age 72 on Feb. 15, 1877 and was listed as a Postmaster's wife.
