Bressler, of Carbon, had charge of the services, assisted by Rev. Ernest McAninch. Mrs. Albert Bender, Mrs. Forrest Parker, Fred Davis, and Ross Miller, sang, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Earl Spiker. Elvon John, son of Mr. and Mrs, Michale Webster Cross, was born in Eldon, Iowa, February 19, 1882. When he was four years old he came with his parents to Cass County, Iowa and the rest of his life he resided in Cass and surrounding counties. On October 4, 1910, Mr. Cross was united in marriage to Ella Robinson and to this union 14 children were born. Ernest, Gladys, Estelle, Maxwell, Willis, Darlene, Patrick, Forest, Jessie, Sarah, Geraldine Atha, Fletcher, and Miles. The daughter Sarah preceded her father in death. Mr. Cross was a soldier, 2 1/2 years, eighteen months of which was spent in France. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by one grandchild; one brother Charles of Wyoming, and two sisters, Mrs. Lee Long of Nodaway and Mrs. Ernest Parker of Grant.
